Absolutely incredible staff from the moment of arrival to the moment of departure. In particular, Yuuta was so helpful, attentive, and downright elegant. An EXCEPTIONAL breakfast and dinner were included with our room, prepared as Japanese interpretation of multi-course French cuisine. The view from the dining area was stunning. Absolutely wonderful. I believe all rooms include a private outdoor onsen (hot spring bath) where you can soak for hours while enjoying nature.

It’s a beautiful spot to visit.

It’s a beautiful spot to visit. I recommend 2-3 days to really experience and explore. I got the Hakone free pass and made my way around the loop over 2 days and the scenery was breathtaking, an extra day would have allowed deeper relaxation and extra exploring. Definitely explore the shrines around the lake and try and get to an Onsen while you are there. I did find it tricky to find tattoo cover patches, so possibly worth looking into before travelling to Hakone if you need to cover up.

    Beautiful nature and atmosphere.

Beautiful nature and atmosphere. The trip to Lake Ashimoto was lovely and the scenery impressive. The highlight of our stay in Hakone was dipping in the local onsens, we loved the experience and the feeling of relaxation after a bath. We ate at different local restaurants, mostly found via map apps, which made great food at reasonable prices. We used the Hakone Pass to get around using trains, cable cars and the ropeway, all very convenient and easy to use. We could have used a couple extra days to visit some of the attractions in the area, that we did not have enough time to enjoy.

One of the highlights of our trip to Japan was visiting Hakone. We would wholeheartedly recommend staying in Gora and doing the loop up to the mountain and then on the sightseeing boat. We did the railways the open air museum the boat and ropeway and achieved all of this within about 24 hours. It is a beautiful destination and a must from the hustle and bustle of the city life

The whole property has a 140 years history, which could be seen as a representative of the ryokan culture in Hakone. We were very pleased to stay at the hotel. Staffs were very friendly, they even got a staff can speak Chinese, who gave us a lot of help. The private onsen and the villa itself were a great experience. My parents stayed in the villa and they felt like so relaxed after a long day. Food were great too. We also ordered a Sake and it was not very expensive. In total, everything was great in here.

I loved the dinner and breakfast menus. Each time it was different, and I loved each set. It was a bit hard to get to, but at the same time that's also made it great as you can easily relax, away from touristy spots. The bus stop is almost in front of the hotel, so it's not bad, but it will take about an hour to get from Odawara Station to the hotel by bus. It's close to Lake Ashi (one bus ride away), so if you need to go sightseeing (Hakone Cruise), it's not to far.

Excellent hotel very old school Japanese. We really had a great experience here. The staff were so lovely especially our waiter who we chatted to when he served our evening meal. The onsen was great to have in our room. Overall a very special experience the food was amazing as well. They organised our luggage transfer to hakone yumoto station so we could explore Hakone area. Free transfer to the nearest station from the hotel was an extra plus! Highly recommend!

Mt Fuji peaking through the clouds was seen through the hotel room window, with the hotel located in a quiet forest spot, it's on the list for a must visit next time we stay in Hakone. From the generous variety at the buffet, to the well equipped onsen bathhouse, it was truly a wonderful stay. The futon beds were easy to arrange ourselves, super warm even on a cold night. They've even got fairy lights out in the garden at night with great photo locations.

The location is superb! Very near to Komagatake Ropeway. The Japanese style room with Mount Fuji and lake Ashi view was fantastic. The outdoor natural spring onsen was cheery on the top :) The staff is very helpful. One of our guests was vegetarian so the Roykan staff made arrangements for us to have dinner and breakfast at thier parent Prince hotel nearby. Location was a little difficult to get to as it was located up a steep hill, but in return, you get the most beautiful view in the Hakone area of Lake Ashi and Mt Fuji. The indoor and outdoor onsen were small but usually timing works out that you have the bath to yourself. It was more than enough, and the view from the outdoor onsen was beautiful. I wish I could have stayed longer! The villa was very spacious and many amenities were provided.

We had a very pleasant stay in the hotel. We searched for a hotel with private Onsen sessions and found ourselves lucky to find this hotel for a reasonable price. The room was very spacious for Japan. We enjoyed our stay. If you like hiking you should definitly do some hikes around Hakone. One morning the woman running the hotel even gave us a ride to the next town to start our hike. This was very kind. Everything was very clean

Incredible accommodation considering the price. Quiet and relaxing. Nice location easily accessible by bus (free bus if you have hakone free pass) and decently good access to owakudani both via the shore of lake ashi or coming back via the hakone cable car, hakone tozan train line then a short bus ride back to accommodation. Onsen is incredible particularly the outside one and the kitchen common area was a lot better than most.

The personnel were great and the dinner and breakfast traditional Japanese which we really appreciated. The hotel were close to Lake Ashi and ferries and buses. 5 minutes walk from the hotel was a possible view of Mt. Fuji-san and we were lucky to see it with a blue sky one morning.
